Opera has announced that it will be launching Opera Touch for iOS devices, this going through a press release made on the 5th of March, Tuesday.
Opera To Launch Opera Touch for iOS
The Opera Touch functions as a Web 3 browser that has been integrated with a Crypto wallet which supports ETH (Ethereum). The Web 3 browser also supports interactions with DApps (decentralized applications). The web browser giant had already unveiled for Android devices the Web 3 browser featuring a built-in Crypto wallet. According to the company, the decision to expand its services to iOS devices was due to the success seen with the integration of DApps and the Crypto wallet for Android devices.
Even though the company has not yet announced the official launch date for the iOS Opera Touch, its press release has stated that the users are able to sign up through its official website to test the app.
Just last month Opera unveiled an additional service in the web 3 browser for Android devices. This additional service made it possible for users within Norway, Denmark and Sweden to buy Ethereum tokens through the browser. This service was made possible through Opera’s collaboration with Safello, which according to Opera has been registered by the FSA (Financial Supervisory Authority) in Sweden.
Mid last year the company unveiled a Crypto wallet integrated into its Browser. At the time of the launch Charles Hamel, the company’s product manager, stated that it was the first browser to utilize Web 3.0.
Greater Usage To Improve Crypto Adoption
For the service enabling the buying of Ethereum tokens directly using the browser based wallet, Opera partnered with Safello, a regulated Crypto brokerage firm. Safello will be providing the cash-to-Crypto exchange in the new feature that will enable users make payments using debit and credit cards. At the time of the launch the service was only made available to users in Sweden, Denmark and Norway.
The Crypto brokerage firm will be using citizens’ identity solutions, such as the BankID for users in Sweden and NemID for users in Denmark, in the verification of users who have made purchases. According to the company, buying ether through the browser based wallet would take less than a minute.
Hamel at the time said that the next critical phase for Crypto would be possible through usage adding that by Crypto being easier to buy and use, it would see wider adoption.
Opera Providing More Crypto Based Services
According to the official announcement, Safello was to give users in Sweden a 2.5 percent discount fee while users in Denmark and Norway were to enjoy a 5 percent discount fee for a limited period.
The major web browser launched the Web 3-ready web browser for Android devices late last year. According to the official statement, this product will be using the ERC-20 standards to support ether and other tokens. Crypto collectibles such as CryptoKitties would also be supported in addition to users being able to access Ethereum based dApps through the browser.
